Positive Encouragement in Music Study

“Each of us is climbing a mountain called ‘Music’. The mountain remains, but the climbers are forever changed.” ~ Suzanne Guy

                                     The Studio

Goals of the Studio

~Nurture the artistic spirit in each student

~Encourage musical playing at every level

~Build a lifelong love of music and learning

~Help each student achieve their highest musical potential

The teacher seeks to creatively engage the student and help shape a lifelong enjoyment of music-making through a wide variety of types of repertoire, including classical piano music, pop, jazz, sacred music, and ensembles. Well rounded instruction will include repertoire, theory, musicianship, ear training, technique, sight reading, composition, and ensemble playing. Mrs. Vahl's philosophy of teaching is to motivate, nurture, educate, and encourage each student to reach his/her fullest potential.

The studio's strengths include a well-organized studio that is friendly and flexible to the needs and learning style of each student.  Personalized lesson plans help each student learn at his or her own pace.  The studio centers about a 5'3" C1 Yamaha grand piano. Students are guided in every lesson to combine the two essential elements of pianism: technical skill and artistic performance
